Check out this cool video from the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago last week which shows an iPad app called The Matrix running on 70 iPads. The effect is achieved via live editable animation rather than video splitting, and the iPads are not connected in any way. No cables or external processing is involved. Version 2.0 of The Matrix was used for the display, and that version will be available in the App Store in June. The current version is similar but doesn’t yet have the ability to handle movies.
The Matrix originally appeared in the App Store in February 2011 for just text and images, and now with the aforementioned version 2.0 it will be able to handle video as well. It works on as many iPads as you have, be that 2 or 200, and enables you to share the animations that you create with your friends’ iPads via email, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.

The cool thing about The Matrix is that you can create an animation just sitting in a coffee shop and play it across any iPads that happen to be there."
