SugarSync iPad App Updated to Include New Cloud Computing Capabilities
SugarSync has today announced that Apple has approved the second version of SugarSync for iPad, which has new capabilities enabling iPad users to access files from remote computers via the cloud, edit them on the iPad, save them locally, and re-sync files back to SugarSync.
The new version is available now for free from the Apple iPad App Store. Here’s Laura Yecies, CEO of SugarSync, talking about the app:
“Out of the box, the iPad is ideal for entertainment, gaming and internet browsing. Now, with SugarSync, the iPad is a truly productive mobile computer – complementary to your laptop, desktop and/or smartphone. Full two-way access to, and editing of, all your cloud-synced files via the Internet is a major development. This is only our first step in our efforts to make your experience entirely seamless, for all of your files to effortlessly sync in the background as you work, no matter what device you’re using. We continue to work with Apple to make this vision a reality.”
The original SugarSync for iPad app was available at launch two weeks ago, and allowed users to view files and photos from remote computers, share files and folders, and stream music over the Internet. However, users couldn’t directly open files to edit or save them locally, which limited the ability to easily work on the iPad.
The new functionality introduced in the update to the app has been made possible by the new Document Support feature on Apple’s iPhone SDK 3.2, and by SugarSync’s Upload by Email feature.
