Kara Swisher on All Things Digital has some exciting exclusive news today, revealing that Apple is planning to hold an event on March 2 where it will announce the iPad 2. Kara cites “multiple sources” for providing her with this information. According to the sources, who are “close to the situation”, the March 2 date is “firm”, with the event due to take place in San Franciso, most likely at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Swisher says that journalists can expect to get their invites very soon, especially with the date being just one week away from tomorrow! Going by Swisher’s tone, she has no doubt that March 2 will be the date Apple puts an end to the speculation and reveals the worst kept secret since the last worst kept secret, the iPad 2! As Swisher notes, it will be interesting to see if Apple CEO Steve Jobs will be there to make the big announcement, let’s hope so!
