Has Apple purchased another processor design firm?

There are some clues floating around out there that Apple has purchased another processor design firm. The firm in question is Intrinsity, a group that has done a lot of work for Samsung on the ARM Cortex A8.

Ars Technica seems to have broken the news and put a number of clues together. A couple of employees had updated their LinkedIn profiles but removed the info quickly. In addition, the company's website has been down, erased from existence.

We expect official word sometime soon but all signs point to yes.

There's also a great article on it here: The ARM, the PPC, the x86, and the iPad... — The NeoSmart Files

I remember when Michael Dell talked crap about Apple, now look who's on top. It won't be long before Apple has a higher market cap then Microsoft as well. In fact, I can see that happening in the next 2 years easily.

I agree after a firm supporter of Apple from 1978 both as a user and Macintosh specialist reseller one can see the changes. Its no longer about computers and Macintosh OS versa's Windows 7 and past ... Its about the digital market that Apple is taking over. Apple is changing the way people think and I believe this is only the beginning. No it does not replace PCs for heavy mainstream work but it fills the void for day to day use for 70% of users out there.

Not to mention that since it's based on UNIX, it has won over a ton of "tech" type people. As time goes on even their PC sales are increasing (and laptop sales as well) and I can see them overtaking Microsoft's market share in the next 7 to 8 years.

I see a bright future for Apple.
