Apple has been trying for quite some time now to negotiate deals with some of the biggest record companies in the world in a bid to start its own music streaming service (or “iRadio,” as it has become known). It looks like one of the final hurdles to the new service has just been successfully overcome by Apple, according to a report in The New York Times, via AppleInsider today, which says that Warner Music Group is finally onboard with Apple’s plans. AppleInsider writes that the deal was signed over this past weekend, and involves recorded music and music publishing rights. So, with Warner Music now happy for Apple to proceed, and Universal Music Group having also reached agreement with Apple recently for recorded music rights, it is now possible that Apple will announce its new music streaming service as soon as the forthcoming WWDC, which starts on June 10. The Times also said that just as with Pandora and Spotify, Apple’s streaming music service will be largely supported by ads.
