Mashable reports today on a classic that has been reinvented for iPad, with the launch of Rand McNally’s 2014 Road Atlas as both an ebook and an interactive iPad app. Released in the very same week that Rand McNally celebrated its 90th birthday, the digital Road Atlas for iPad features updated maps for all 50 states, as well as Canadian provinces, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, plus inset maps for the bigger cities and national parks. Once downloaded, the map can be viewed anywhere without needing a data connection, which is always a plus! The ebook version of Rand McNally’s 2014 Road Atlas is also now available in the iBookstore for $9.99, and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and other ereaders. Aside from the regular features that you’d expect to find in the paper version of the map, additional features include extra online content, the ability to drag and zoom the high-res interstate maps, offline access to atlas content, a Mileage Calculator Tool, and Best of the Road Small Towns in America and editor-curated road trips.
