iPad 2 Shipment Estimates Upped to 20 Million From 14 Million
The end of 2011 looks set to be a massive success for Apple, and for the iPad 2 in particular, with 9to5 Mac reporting that according to Taiwan Economic News, Apple’s major supply partner, Foxconn, has just raised its iPad 2 shipment estimates for Q3 up to 20 million from 14 million, which represents a 42.8% increase from its previous projection back in July. This falls into line with the stunning projections for Q3 coming from other analysts as well. And as 9to5 Mac points out, when you realise that Apple sold 9.25 million iPads in Q2, this would be a truly impressive increase. Hon Hai (Foxconn) gave Taiwan Economic News the usual “no comment” on the matter, although it did venture to say that a Q3 shipment boom is very common in the electronic industry. And don’t expect those figures to start getting smaller any time soon, as according to DigiTimes, via 9to5 Mac, LG Display has finally solved the quality problems that it was having with the display panels that it makes for the iPad 2, and so it hopes to have its production schedule back to normal in September.
