Strange update problem
My problem actually concerns iTunes which of course ultimately impacts our iPad.
I cannot update iTunes on our HP Pavillion m7750 Media Center PC running Vista Premium. When I try to down load the iTunes update it errors out giving the message a problem exists with Windows Installer. Now, this is where the strangeness occurs. Windows installer functions perfect for all other downloaded installations. Why then is Apple's iTune the exception. Another strange occurrence is our iTunes/iPad password is no longer recognized. The password we are using is absolutely correct. The password is documented for safe keeping offline.
Any advice in solving these two problems will be greatly appreciated.
I guess you've tried to reboot your PC to see if this fixes that problem?
Regarding the password, if it has a lower-case letter as the first character then you might find that the iPad is setting this to upper case by default and you have to cancel the automatic 'Shift' key action.
Quite by accident I stumbled upon the solution.
While typing in "system configuration" in the Vista search box (so I could see if the windows installer was activated) I saw "Apples Software Updater" file. I quickly moved this file to the desktop, started it and every Apple software on my PC was listed. I then gave the okay to update and that was that. No problems updating iTunes or QuickTime.
As for the passwords for iTunes and iPad I guess it was somehow corrupted so I simply replaced the old one with a new password.
I haven't a clue as to what caused any of this mess.
