I can't seem to connect to the wifi at work. My ipad dectects the wifi and asks for the password. The problem, according to the IT person seems to be the fact that our sytem is using Novell and he says that Apple does not have the program that allows the ipad to connect to it. He says he will call Apple to see if there is a patch now that will allow it to work.
Does this sound right?
Connecting to a WAP has nothing to do with the Network OS (Novell/Apple/AD).
When you connect, what IP address does your iPad receive?
It shows 2 available networks, but neither list an IP address.
connect to them, then hit the arrow next to the name in the wifi settings and you can get the IP address of the iPad.
I can't connect. It won't accept my password. That's the problem! Ipad detects wifi, but I can't connect to either wifi networks.
I teach in a school that has very high security, so I am thinking that might be the issue with Novell Client. My adminstrator tried her two passowrds and those didn't work either. Only a couple of us have ipads, I don't think the IT person wants to deal with us.
It has nothing to do with Novell. The WAP is probably set to an encryption method not supported by the iPad. There are 5 different basic security modes with 2 different encryption methods.
I believe the iPad supports only 3 security modes, WEP, WPA and WPA2. If your work WAP is using a different security mode, then the iPad will not connect.

Also, the WAP password has nothing to do with your network login password (novell password).
It is a WPA2 system.
I also work in a school, and my IT tech said he needed my MAC address to add it to the domain in order for me to log into the network with my iPad.
Your MAC address? Would I find that under settings?
That might be the answer I'm looking for.
