What is the application for? Perhaps if you could post a link to the application we could help you better.
Cox is a cable and internet provider i think.

Reason I asked, I use the DirecTV app to stream to my ipad. Will give you a little hint, if you don't have a dual band N router then the streaming won't be so good and a dual band adapter at the COX unit.
