Of course it will not charge as fast as the iPad charger, that's why there are different chargers for iPad and iPhone.Quote:

How about vice-versa: take the iPad-charger only with you?!

Oh it is very weird question. I have never done such experiments.
The iPad charger will charge the iPhone just fine, but vs vs the iPad will charge very slowly.
If you have iPad and iPhone chargers and want to travel light, take the iPad charger. That way, you'll get the fastest charge for iPad, and your iPhone will charge fine. (An iPad charger will not overcharge an iPhone.)
And the upside is that the iPhone will charge really fast. :)
I do it that way all the time on the road. I charge my iPad overnight then charge my phone while I get ready in the morning.
Always leave the hotel with both devices 100%.
I can't say I've noticed any difference in charging speed for my ipad between using an iPhone charger over an iPad one.
Well that's concluded, that an iPhone charger can also supply enough juice for the iPad. But just to be on the safe side on your account, just bring the iPad charger.
There are actually multiple versions of the iPhone charger. Two of them only supply 5W which will charge the iPad, but very slowly. The iPad charger supplies 10W which is what the iPad really wants. The other iPhone charger supplies 7W, though it's still only marked as a 5W charger on the casing.
