I went to my local Apple store few hours ago and the sale assistance confirmed the release of iPad 2 at 5pm (UK time). They will be closed at 3pm to prepare for the arrival and reopen at 5pm.

would queuing up at 1pm be fine..I live in a small city called Southampton. it wasn't busy when the iPad came out last year.
southampton isn't that small in the uk. there's loads of different outlets. perhaps an out of town or lesser known retailer might get you more luck cue-wise. as for times? how long is a piece of string?

nothing's reported yet. nobody'll know nothing at least until 5pm friday.
