upgrading to 5.1 on ipad 1, 3g wifi

Please i need help udating my software from 5.0.1 to 5.1. I have used the software update in settings>general to download the 5.1 but everytime i tried to install i always get the following error message
"unable to install update, an error occurred installing ios 5.1"......i have tried all sorts to update without any luck. please help

Disabling my anti virus software before beginning the upgrade process has worked for me. Give it a try.
