No, you don't lose anything.
Click the gift icon then the outgoing tab, this shows what u can gift. Incoming obviously shows what you received. If you gift back from incoming, say a towel but towels aren't in your outgoing but bracelets are it may send bracelet instead.

If you click on the warehouse icon (crate) then crate tab, that shows all the gifts in your inventory but they don't disappear unless you use them yourself for builds or flights. Etc

Does anybody have a good solution for keeping track of who needs what ? Scrolling thru the posts in the forum for each of the gifts I am able to give takes ages, and often goes beyond the time I can invest to the game, so I end up gifting randomly flight items before I waste a gifting session without sending anything. Especially with this quest where the number of posts has dramatically increased...

I used to keep a list but now most of the regulars are doing similar flights then I keep it simple as you send me what you need and I return . The only issue is following the space mission neighbour lists have grown so it takes 2 days to return all the gifts but if everyone is doing this it means there is a constant max number of gifts circulating . I always keep the incoming gifts until I can return.
If you press return when you can't gift you lose that person from your gift list and with so many usernames and lack of pictures it's impossible to trace who missed out.

Out of interest as iPad users are stuck at max level 35 yet other devices go to level 40 do you think as many of us have enough exp points to be level 40 when they roll out the level update expected soon we w ill jump up 5 levels ...

Out of interest as iPad users are stuck at max level 35 yet other devices go to level 40 do you think as many of us have enough exp points to be level 40 when they roll out the level update expected soon we w ill jump up 5 levels ...
